March Member of the Month

Corey Jones has been selected as 4-H Member of the Month for March and rceived a pizza lunch prize, as well as a certificate recognizing him as the honored member. Corey is 13 years old and a 6th grader at Tipton Middle School.  His parents are Chris and Tonya Jones.  He has three younger siblings:  Christa, Cameron, and C.J.

This is Corey's third year in 4-H, where he serves as Vice-President for his club.  He shows sheep, participates in Share-the-Fun, and other 4-H activities.  Corey says what he does best is work (what a great thing to do "best"!) and plans on being an electrician when he grows up.

Congratulations, Corey!

February Member of the Month

Damion Garza is the Tipton 4-H Member of the Month for February.   He was treated to a pizza lunch at school on Wednesday.  This is Damion's 2nd year in 4-H where his projects include rabbits, crafts, Farmhand Olympics, and Share-the-Fun.  Damion is always willing to help in the food concessions and with other 4-H activities.

Damion is 10 years old and in the 5th grade, but when he grows up he wants to be an astronaut so that he can see space.  His favorite thing to do now is play football.  When asked what Damion believes he does best he answered, "Do a flip".  He's practicing for space!

Damion lives with Emilio, mom Nicole, and his two younger sisters, Alexis and Jayla.  He says his hero is his mom because she is an awesome person.

Congratulations, Damion!

Oklahoma Science Museum 4-H Camp In

The annual Oklahoma Science Museum 4-H Camp In was held at the Science Museum Oklahom on Friday, February 5th and Saturday, February 6th. Ten Tipton, OK, 4-H members attended the camp in, along with three adults.

The camp in is a great experience for 4-H members, as they discover more about science in unique and fun ways. 4-H members from all across Oklahoma are eligible to attend the yearly event. This year local members who participated in the county demonstration contest had their fee waived to attend the science camp in.  Four members took advantage of this incentive.

Those attending the camp in were Corey Jones, Drew Johnson, Christa Jones, Shon Boothe, Clayton Hancock, Cheyenne Hancock, Zachary Waugh, Zachary Crites, Owen Crites, and Jacob Waugh. Adults attending were Tonya Jones, Sabrina Johnson, and Lori Waugh.

4-H Member of the Month - November and December

Note:  I found out that her name was misspelled so remade the certificate for her!)

Emilee Martinez (top) and Shon Booth (bottom) have been selected as recent 4-H members of the month.  These two 4-H members were treated to a mini personal pizza, a drink and dessert.

Emilee is in the 4th grade and is enjoying her first year in 4-H.  She is looking forward to baking and entering her creations in the fair next fall.  Shon is a 3rd grader and it is his first year in 4-H, as well.  Shon shows sheep as a 4-H project.

One of the most notable things about these two 4-H members is their enthusiasm about the club.  They are both always eager and willing to help with any event.  They were especially helpful during the county fair when the Tipton club worked in the 4-H concession stand.

Congratulations, Emilee and Shon!
